More Health Department Clinics Being Scheduled

Health departments around the state are beginning to schedule clinic opportunities where Kentuckians can receive the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine. Please check the Health Alerts site for new clinic times, dates and locations.

Because the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine is still only available in limited quantities, clinic opportunities are currently focused on individuals in priority groups. The people in these groups are recommended to get the swine flu vaccine before others because they may be at higher risk for developing serious health problems if they become ill with swine flu:

  • Pregnant women.
  • People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months old.
  • Health care and emergency medical services workers.
  • Children and young adults 6 months to 24 years old, especially those with chronic health problems.
  • People 25 to 64 years old with chronic health problems.

You can also contact the Kentucky Department for Public Health's influenza hotline at 1(877)843-7727 for more information about H1N1 or seasonal influenza.
