State's Eighth H1N1-Related Death Reported in Lake Cumberland District

First H1N1-Related Death in Lake Cumberland Region Reported

The Kentucky Public Health Laboratory has confirmed that the death of a male in his late twenties at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital was related to the H1N1 virus. There were no apparent underlying medical conditions in the patient. This is Lake Cumberland’s first death associated with H1N1 influenza (swine flu).

Throughout the state, eight people have now been confirmed with H1N1-related deaths.

The 2009 H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine is beginning to become available in small amounts. More vaccine is expected to arrive in the coming weeks. Clinic dates and times for the public to receive H1N1 vaccine from local health departments will be posted as they are scheduled around the state.
